User Terminals

Various types of robust and customisable GX fixed and mobile terminals (manual and auto acquisition/pointing) exist which offer a simple, high quality user experience on a global basis, according to globally-guaranteed service levels, for Maritime, Land, and Aero markets.

Terminal integrators go through an acceptance process to ensure their GX terminals offer required features and maximise user experience.

Hardware Enabler – iDirect Core Module

An API-driven modem integrated into appropriate GX terminals by approved Terminal manufacturers, providing LAN connectivity to users and Intermediate Frequency connectivity to RF components, and enables one-touch deployment for a terminal to acquire the GX network.

For Land and Maritime, two versions are available: Standard and Industrialised. The type of Maritime terminal depends on whether it is above deck with the antenna or rack-mounted below deck.

Hardware Enabler – Network Service Device

Deployed at a customer Site with interfaces to terminals (GX/BGAN); on-board equipment; private branch exchange; analogue phones. This router terminates GX and BGAN networks, allows access to Inmarsat’s Over-the-Top, e.g., Data; Voice GX applications, and switches between Ka- and L-band links.

It is managed by Inmarsat’s GX VARs, and makes use of one-touch deployment requiring entry of only the unique identifier for the customer Site.
